Next Tamarack Shores meeting March 21, 2022 at the Pool

March 13, 2022– Finally the signs of Spring are around us! After a few very cold snaps this year I think it’s safe to say EVERYONE is looking forward to the warmer weather. We had Daylight Savings time start so let’s remember to “SPRING” forward an hour on all our clocks. And Comal ISD students, parents and staff begin their much needed break from March 14 – 18. It is all downhill after this holiday leaving us just 10 weeks left in the school year! Please feel free to review some of the links below for ideas on things to do this Spring Break. And as always please be careful.

And let’s not forget those allergies! Here is information for those of us who have to deal with terrible allergies:

January 17, 2022 – Members of the current Board met to discuss both new and old business concerning our community. At every meeting I’ve attended the hottest topic and longest running conversation is the overall appearance of our community. Imagine if you will driving into Tamarack Shores for the first time. You see our neighborhood church, a few local businesses and modest, nice homes with well manicured lots that are pleasing to the eye. You come over the hill and see the beautiful view of Canyon Lake. Personally it was one of the things that made me want to live here. However, as you continue onward you begin to see that there are homes/property that not been taken care of and need some attention. Sometimes its just overgrown grass/weeds, trash or clutter laying about the property and other times it is the home itself that needs of a bit of work or repair. There are lots of ways to help improve our property/homes and investments by adding a little “curb appeal”. Curb appeal is how attractive your home looks when a potential buyer first pulls up to look at it. According to a study done by Michigan State University, a home with landscaping and effort put into curb appeal can increase perceived home value by 5 to 11%. Curb appeal can also sell a home faster. For more information or ideas check out the “Big ideas and Curb Appeal” tab. The Board also addressed properties that have old non working-non livable recreational vehicles/manufactured homes and non working vehicles/boats on them. These properties also hurt our community and value. They can be a place for homeless people to camp out as well as a place for kids/teens to get into mischief. We as a community should help each other by being mindful to keep our property clean; at the very least, keep the yards mowed and free from trash/debris. Please remember that we all made the decision to purchase the land/home and we should want the value of our investment to increase. September 26, 2011 – SAVE THE DATE! Bring your chairs, favorite beverage and if you would like to share a side dish that would be most appreciated. We will be at the Community Pool at 6pm. This is the last day of the Summer season to use the pool as well. So come out, meet your neighbors, share a bite to eat and enjoy.

September 9, 2021-Today I read some very sad news on the Nextdoor website. It tells the story of a fellow resident in the Canyon Lake Hills area. Her beloved dog was found in the lake near boat ramp 7. It was not an accidental drowning, which makes it even worse. We feel for her loss and pray that the individual who so cruelly ended the life of her sweet companion is found and that justice is served. What if you happen to see something unusual going on or maybe something just doesn’t look or feel right, please help keep our neighborhood safe by letting us know about any suspicious activity with a quick comment. The Comal County Sheriff Department is always a great resource for assistance. They can be reached at their Non Emergency Number: 830-620-3400. IF it is an Emergency Call 9-1-1. Here is a link to their website for more detailed and useful information:

August 15, 2021- Lately we have been seeing reports of thefts in our community. Those who have experienced the robberies are sharing their stories on the NextDoor website or mobile app. We are saddened to hear that some of our neighbors are going through some thing like this and convey our apologies. It is something that is not expected. We should feel safe in our homes, on our property and on the streets in our community. What we can do is be there for one another. If you “See something, Say something”. Below are some helpful tips that we can all benefit from:

  • Lock your vehicle. A large percentage of automobile break-ins involve unsecured vehicles.
  • Never leave valuables inside of the vehicle, where they can be seen in plain view.
  • Trim back any shrubbery that hides the doors or windows of your house.
  • Illuminate your yards and entranceways. Consider using motion-detection lighting.
  • Never open your door to anyone that you do not know.
  • Keep your doors locked whether you are at home or away.
  • Keep your garage door closed and locked, even when at home or in the backyard.
  • Half of all home burglaries occur during the day. Be alert to any suspicious persons or vehicles in the area. If anything seems out of place, notify the police to check it out.
  • Be observant of repair men, construction workers, or service workers, who might be thieves. If their behavior or location seems out of the ordinary, notify the police.
  • Consider investing in an alarm system. Receive at least three different estimates.
  • Get to know your immediate neighbors. Be familiar with what type of vehicles they drive, whether they have out of town guests, or if they will be having hired services performed at their homes. This can be one of the best ways to deter crime.
